Electro Mesh Tape

A static-removal tape made in Japan. A fabric tape of nylon yarn blended with stainless steel fibre, it discharges statically charged objects without electricity.

01 Overview

Features

  • 01Discharges quickly on contact with a statically charged object.
  • 02A fabric in tape form, easy to process and install.
  • 03Can be cut with ordinary scissors.
  • 04Economical — no loss of performance other than wear.
  • 05Uses no electricity.

02 Principle

How it discharges

Made of 5~8μm (micron) stainless steel fibre and nylon yarn, it generates a natural corona discharge and acts on the charged object in the manner of a “catalyst” to discharge it.

04 Caution

Installation notes

  • No adhesive over the whole surface

The tape has no adhesive. When wrapping it onto a charged object (e.g. hoses · pipes), do not apply adhesive or double-sided tape over the whole tape. They become an insulator and the anti-static effect is lost.

  • Recommended method

Fix the tape using adhesive at points here and there.

  • Grounding (earth)

Grounding (earth) is required. When wrapped around a product that is itself grounded, no grounding is needed.

Grounding examples

  • Earth wire connected to the tape edge with an alligator clip
  • Earth wire connected to the tape with a screw and terminal

The anti-static effect varies with the material of the charged object and the customer's operating environment, so use of this product does not guarantee every anti-static effect.
